Painter Claudio Carli, who passed away in 2021, left a deep imprint on the Assisi community for his fruitful humanity and extraordinary talent.
Among his many artistic experiences, one of the ones he was most passionate about was undoubtedly painting the July 2nd Palio in Siena in 2012, the so-called Drappellone, with a work inspired by St. Francis and his first coming to Siena in 1212.
It was the Contrada Capitana dell’Onda that won the Palio in 2012, and Claudio Carli’s work is now preserved in its museum alongside those of other important artists.
This initiative aims to recount the extraordinary cultural and human adventure of Claudio Carli in the Palio of Siena by listening to the testimonies of those who lived it, on the thread of memory and regret and consolidating through this remembrance the important bond that unites the cities of Assisi and Siena.
