The Exhibition
Banksy’s provocative and revolutionary art for the first time in Assisi, to launch a message of peace and hope to the world. Over one hundred works by the iconic artist of contemporary street art will be on display from 16 April to 2 November 2025, in the land of Saint Francis. A unique project, inside the evocative Rocca Maggiore, medieval fortress and symbolic monument dominating the UNESCO heritage city.
The display – promoted by the Municipality of Assisi, produced by Opera Laboratori and curated by Stefano Antonelli and Gianluca Marziani – is named ‘Peace on Earth’, taking its cue from the graffiti created by Banksy in Bethlehem, on a wall near the Grotto of Milk. An iconic inscription, which contains an afterword: ‘Terms and conditions apply’. This is the basis of the project, which proposes an investigation into the value of peace in Banksy’s art and sees as its symbol a dove wearing a bulletproof vest and an olive branch in its beak, struggling precisely to bring peace.
A theme that animates both the spirit of the city of St. Francis and the hand of the anonymous British artist and activist, who has always been committed to topics such as justice, freedom, environmental protection, pacifism, through desecrating works, where the dissident critique of violence takes place through powerful images that are immediately accessible to all, amid joy and irony.
The Works
The exhibition is divided into sections, confronting the public with original works, which the artist created in his studio from 1998 to 2010. These include some iconic and highly valuable images, such as Flower Thrower, the flower thrower, and Girl with Balloon, the girl with the red heart-shaped balloon, in its original 2004 version. Extraordinary and exclusive pieces, because while many are familiar with Banksy’s public work, very few have access to his studio-produced work.
Materials ranging from the original signed and numbered silkscreens produced by Pictures On Walls from 2001 to 2009, to the entire production of original record covers made for Blur, Hombre records and Wall of Sound, Bansky’s entire videography, posters, books, t-shirts, original photographs, as well as works by artists who have inspired, collaborated with and supported the British artist along his path.
Accessibility
The Rocca Maggiore of Assisi is a medieval fortress, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Due to its historical, architectural and structural characteristics, it is not accessible to persons with severe motor disabilities and wheelchair users.
The fortress is partially accessible for persons with mobility difficulties (ground floor and central block).

Opening hours
The exhibition ‘Peace on Earth’ can be visited every day, from 16 April to 2 November 2025, during the opening hours of the Rocca Maggiore in Assisi.
From 1/04 to 31/05 every day from 10.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.
From 1/06 to 31/08 daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
From 1/09 to 30/09 daily from 10.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.

The visit to the ‘Peace on Earth’ exhibition is included in the entrance ticket to the Rocca Maggiore.

Through a single, integrated ticket, at a cost of 15 euros for adults and 5 euros for children under 10, it is possible to visit the historic city centre and access the Rocca Maggiore Roman Forum and the Municipal Art Gallery.
