The Lyrick Theatre stands in a strategic position in Santa Maria degli Angeli and is considered one of the major theatres in Umbria. The complex was constructed on the initiative of American magnate, Richard Leach, in the former Montedison industrial chemical department, designed in the 50s by the architect, Morandi, from the school of the engineer, Pier Luigi Nervi.
The prestigious theatre, inaugurated in May 2000, was built to stage Francis the Musical, a very successful show that paid tribute to the Saint, of which the spectacular proscenium has been preserved.
For over twenty years, this modern structure with a seating capacity of 1000 and a large, 40 metre stage has staged national and international productions of considerable importance.
Each year the theatre programme is packed with different events, ranging from prose to ballet and musicals suitable for any type of public that attract subscribers and spectators from all over central Italy as a result.
Today, the building is owned by the Municipality that entrusts the management of the theatrical season to a cultural association.
