Assisi offers a rich, varied cultural life, thanks to its theatres and the numerous events they hold: the Lyrick, built in the former Montedison industrial chemical department and the Piccolo Teatro degli Instabili, salvaged from the rooms of the old theatre of the Monastery of St. Giacomo.
Productions include not only prose, comedy, opera, variety and ballet, but also some of the most innovative and experimental performances that contribute to making the town a benchmark on the national and international scene.
The Lyrick Theatre is considered one of the major theatres in Umbria and for over twenty years has staged national and international productions of considerable importance.
The Piccolo Teatro degli Instabili stands in the heart of Assisi’s historic centre. Some of the greatest actors have stepped on to its stage, from Giorgio Albertazzi to Luigi Lo Cascio.
