In the rooms on the main floor of Palazzo Vallemani – beautiful Baroque residence with frescoed vaults from the beginning of the seventeenth century by Umbrian and Tuscan painters – is on exhibit the Municipal Art Gallery of Assisi, which includes a large group of frescoes from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance from civil buildings and religious of Assisi and its surroundings, and some paintings on wood and canvas of the XIV-XVII centuries.

The major work of art is a Maestà painted by Giotto. Other painters whose works are part of the collection are Puccio Capanna, Ottaviano Nelli, Niccolò di Liberatore, Pietro Perugino.
