Wadowice (Poland) and Assisi (Italy) are connected by a “bridge of values”, spiritual and cultural, related to Saint John Paul II, who was born in Wadowice; he laid the foundation of his Pontificate in 1978 in Assisi on teachings of dialog and understanding, linked to the actions of Saint Francis of Assisi.

The Saint John Paul II was a “pilgrim to Assisi” six times, and in 1986 convened in the city of “the poor man” the first meeting between the heads of the World’s Religions in Prayer for Peace, giving rise to the “Spirit of Assisi” that even today, is a “living sign” of the “dialogue of hope” among Peoples.
